United Kingdom: Portuguese ohonline marketplace and road trip platformIndie Campers, has announced the launch of its peer-to-peer rental platform in the UK.
With over nine years of experience as a motorhome rental fleet operator and nearly 3,000 vehicles under management in Europe and the United States, Indie Campers has experienced a boom in demand for motorhome travel since launching its own peer-to-peer rental model in the summer of 2021. Since its inception, the new marketplace has received over 20,000 booking requests from travelers across Europe in just over six months.
As on colocation sites like Airbnb, motorhome owners can create an account and list their vehicles on the marketplace in just a few clicks.
“Indie” is designed to give owners complete control over who rents their motorhome by requiring them to approve a traveler’s booking request. If approved, travelers pay through Indie Camper’s secure reservation system to keep both parties safe.
Motorhome and campervan owners from Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man will now be able to take advantage of the growing demand for outdoor and motorhome holidays on the platform and rent their vehicle with confidence. Indie Campers claim owners can earn up to £29,000 a year renting out their vehicle.
The company also recently announced a partnership with Riverside Insurance that will provide liability insurance, theft protection, comprehensive insurance and roadside assistance to owners’ vehicles when rented on the peer-to-peer platform. The insurance will be automatically integrated into each rental.
Pierre Everling, Vice President Market at Indie Campers, said: “The demand for campervan travel in the UK is booming. We have seen an increase in searches of over 60% on our UK platform since last year.
“For the past few months we have been working hard to make this application accessible to private motorhome owners in the market. We are delighted to announce our partnership with Riverside and the official launch of our peer-to-peer marketplace in the UK. We believe it will become one of our biggest markets within a few months,” he added.
To rent their motorhome with Indie Campers, owners will need ID and proof of primary insurance policy, so they can establish an insurance and rental contract with Indie Campers , which is digitally stored on the platform.
Now aggregating more than 3,000 own vehicles, in addition to the motorhomes and camper vans of private and professional guests, Indie Campers aims to become the leading road trip supplier in the world by developing rapidly. The company now operates in the United States and 15 European countries, including Germany, France, United Kingdom, Ireland, Spain, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Netherlands , Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Portugal, Croatia and Iceland.
