Here we are without doubt the best weekend of the summer. Where will you be celebrating?
If you are in central Jersey, there is only one correct answer: Jersey Freeze on Route 9 in Freehold, New Jersey.
Sunday night, Jersey Freeze will provide entertainment before the fireworks set off at the Freehold Raceway Mall. Located across Route 9, Jersey Freeze is the perfect place to watch the show while enjoying additional entertainment (and ice cream!).
Although the fireworks display does not begin until 9:15 a.m., there will be various forms of entertainment in the Jersey Freeze parking lot in the hours leading up to it.
Not only will there be a live DJ from XE Events, but the East Freehold Fire Department will have a fire truck for any kids interested in checking it out.
Per Jersey Freeze’s Instagram, there will also be face painting and giveaways. The fireworks pregame begins at 6 p.m., giving you plenty of time to stuff yourself with delicious food and ice cream before the fireworks begin.

I decided to take a trip there for myself to see what they had to offer. Okay, when you walk in you feel like Charlie about to take over the chocolate factory. Black River Candy Shoppe is a cute little candy shop with hundreds of different types of candies.
They have old school childhood candy as well as an amazing selection of new candy varieties. The candies are displayed in old whiskey casks, and many of their candies are sold in bulk by the pound. It is located in downtown Chester, just off Main Street. Check out the photos from my recent visit:

From the rides to all the boardwalk food to the many water fun, Seaside Heights and nearby Seaside Park has remained a family friendly place for all ages.
Along the way, the Seaside Heights boardwalk and Casino Pier were hit by tragic disasters, such as a fire, Super Hurricane Sandy, and another fire. Both have proven their resilience through reconstruction and expansion.
