OSAGE BEACH, Mo. – People are ready to go out this spring and summer, safe of course. After a year of containment and masking, Americans are ready to go out, according to Airbnb and Travel and leisure.

They looked at the most recent and popular Airbnbs searches across the country. Each spot is known for its outdoor activities.

One of the most popular spots is Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. It’s easy to get to, there’s something for everyone, and you can sit by the water at this condo on the lake for as little as $ 114 a night.

The Lake of the Ozarks is the only place in our region to make the list, and it looks like it should be bracing for what could be another record year of tourism.

Other summer hot spots include Kitty Hawk, NC; Lake Powell, Arizona, Cape San Blas, Florida; and Cape May, NJ, according to Travel and Leisure.

The popular Lake of the Ozarks also saw an increase in tourism last summer. Businesses said Labor Day was their busiest weekend yet. Videos from the lake last summer went viral after rallies showed massive parties where people didn’t distance themselves or wear masks, unlike the rest of the country.

Some business owners said last summer that the party videos helped boost tourism, rather than deter it.

Lake Ozark Mayor Gerry Murawski said nearly 10 million people visited the lake in the first eight months of last year. This is double the number of visitors the region received in 2019.
