Lea Thompson and Stacey Farber to Lead CTV and eOne Procedural “The Spencer Sisters” as Mother and Daughter

EXCLUSIVE: Leah Thompson (Back to the future) and Stacey Farber (Virgin River, Degrassi: the next generation) will play mother and daughter in TVC and eOnethe light canadian procedural series of The Spencer Sisters.

Created by Alan McCullough (private eyes, Rookie Blue), the 10-episode series centers on hot-headed ex-cop Darby Spencer (Farber) and his estranged crime novelist mother Victoria Spencer (Thompson).

They have opposite personalities, different sensibilities and a complicated history, but always embark on the most unlikely adventure: becoming partners in a private detective agency.

Production begins next month in Winnipeg, with a 2023 broadcast on Canada’s CTV. More details will follow at a later date. McCullough and Jenn Engels (Kind of) are executive producers and co-showrunners.

Thompson is an actress, singer, and director best known for starring in the Back to the future movies. She also starred in All good initiatives with Tom Cruise, George Lucas howard the duck and John Hughes’ A kind of wonderful. On the television front, she was the title star in NBC’s Carolina in the city. His directing credits include episodes of The Goldbergs, Mom, Young Sheldon, star girland Star Trek: Picard.

She’s at Comic-Con this week to moderate a star trek Universe panel, with Patrick Stewart, Gates McFadden, Alex Kurtzman and Rod Roddenberry on board, as well as Deadline announced this week.

Farber had a recurring role on Netflix Virgin River and a villain in The CW’s Superman and Loisand appeared in Schitt’s Creek, Grace and Frankie, Unreal, The brave, Maintain hope and Rookie Blue. She also played fan-favorite character Ellie Nash on CTV Degrassi: the next generation.

Farber is represented by The Characters Talent Agency, Managing Director Christina Gualazzi and A3 Artists Agency.
