Lord of the Rings fans can stay at ‘Hobbiton’ for just £5: Here’s how

Lord of the Rings fans will soon be able to stay in “Hobbiton”, the fictional home of JRR Tolkien’s creation of the hobbits, for just 10 New Zeeland dollars per night (around £5).

Tolkien fans will recognize the film set of the Lord of the Ringsthe sand The Hobbit movie trilogies, and it is now listed as lodging on Airbnb.

Guests have the option of visit this private part of the Shire to celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey film.

During the stay, tourists can access the permanently constructed 44 Hobbit holes, as well as other famous features of the Middle-earth film set.

Located in Matamata, Waikato, New Zealand, the trip includes admission to Hobbit Hole, Green Dragon Inn and a two-night stay at Millhouse.

The accommodation accommodates up to four people, with two bedrooms, two beds and a bathroom. There is also a kitchen, TV, indoor fireplace and outdoor dining area. Meanwhile, the essentials provided cover towels, sheets, soap and toilet paper.

The owner is ready to welcome people when they arrive and says on the Airbnb listing: “Once you are all checked in, our concierge will ensure a comfortable stay for you and your guests, including showing you around and arranging meals. with you. ”

In addition to private access to a Hobbit Hole, fans can enjoy an evening banquet at The Green Dragon Inn, featuring a feast of beef stew with bread and beer, plus second breakfasts dailies and Elevenses. Fans will also be treated to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Hobbiton set, where the The Hobbit trilogy was filmed.

However, this is a unique opportunity, as there are only three two-night stays available to book. But, it says on the listing that this is “not a competition”, as travel to and from the country and accommodation must be arranged separately.

First come, first served, the booking portal opens at midnight on December 13 for stays on March 2-4, 9-11 and 16-18, 2023.

This isn’t the first time Airbnb has collaborated with designers to bring a home or rental seen on screen to life.

In October the rental platform listed the house of Hocus Pocus optional for vacationers in Salem.

Meanwhile in May, the windmill from the film Moulin Rouge has been recreated as a romantic Parisian rental.
