Man killed in nighttime shooting in West Seattle – KIRO 7 News Seattle

Seattle police are investigating a shooting in West Seattle that left one person dead early Thursday morning.

At approximately 12:22 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots being fired in the 5200 block of 17th Avenue Southwest in the Riverview neighborhood of West Seattle.

When officers arrived, they found a man with gunshot wounds inside a house.

Rescue measures were attempted, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are investigating.

Neighbors tell KIRO 7 that the house under investigation is an Airbnb rental.

The house is listed on the company’s website, but was demolished Thursday morning following the fatal shooting.

KIRO 7 contacted Airbnb and received no response.

“There were a lot of parties there, but other than that, no fights or anything,” said neighbor Mark, before describing the shooting. “It was like someone knocked on my door, like 6 times, 7 times. I think the guy unloaded his gun.

Warren Harris, also a neighbor, said he heard the shooting from inside his home.

“I thought it was the kids hitting the wall with the broomstick,” Harris said. “We heard a little moan or growl outside. We look out the window and there are two individuals running towards a truck that is parked in the driveway.

Three neighbors claimed the house was rented at the time of the shooting.

“I couldn’t say how many people,” said Mark, who claimed there was a “party.” “We just ignore it (because) it happens all the time.”
