That’s according to Post Office Travel Money’s annual Global Holiday Cost Barometer, which compared the cost of eight daily tourist items in 36 cities and resorts around the world to see where Britons will get more for their money.

The strength of the pound against many currencies has helped lower costs for holidaymakers, the survey finds – Britons will pay less than a year ago in half of the destinations surveyed.

The report revealed that the collapse of the Turkish lira has helped gold medalist Marmaris – where a three-course meal for two with vino will cost Brits as little as £16.02 – to leapfrog Sunny Beach for the first time .

However, Bulgaria may prove to be a more popular choice for holidaymakers this year, as Bulgarian lev sales at Post Office Travel Money have exceeded Turkish lira by almost 14%, according to the survey.
