Masks required again at Buffalo Niagara International Airport

Yesterday the NFTA announced that they would end the mask requirement here. Today, they have reversed that decision again.

Rules at Buffalo Niagara International Airport have been confusing for 24 hours. As of early yesterday, the mask mandate had come to an end for many flights arriving and departing from Buffalo Niagara International Airport, but they would still be needed at the airport itself. By mid-morning, the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority had announced that it would abandon this mandate.

Today they reversed that again and announced that masks would still be required for the airport and other forms of transportation like buses and trains here in Western New York.

“First and foremost, we want to apologize for what is sure to be confusing to our travelers and passengers, but due to the Governor’s announcement updating the State Department of Health’s COVID regulations in New York, masks will still be required in all public transportation entities. in New York State until further notice. This includes Buffalo Niagara and Niagara Falls International Airports, Metro Bus and Rail, and all paratransit services. We will provide any updates or changes to this policy accordingly. The NFTA will continue to follow the CDC’s recommendation that encourages people to wear masks on indoor public transportation at this time and that everyone should be respectful of those who choose to wear face coverings for their personal safety. – NFTA Statement

So for now the rule is that you won’t have to wear a mask during the flight, however, you will have to wear one through the airport and on buses and rails.
