For this reason, I have decided not to look inside trees anymore. A Midwestern guy was more than a little shocked to find a frightened bear who had recently decided to take up residence inside a bear.
According to the date of the video share, it happened on December 22, 2022. Here’s what the guy had to say about how this bear-like encounter happened:
While on a grouse hunt with a family member, we discovered a large hole in the ground. After trying to see into it, my stepdad said “turn your flashlight on in there.” Instead of just using my phone’s flash I put my phone down to record and turned on my cameras and the rest is pretty obvious based on the video I never intended to see a bear or get that close, but after seeing what was recorded on the phone screen, I walked out of there.

The guy indicated that it happened in the northern Midwest, bear-loving Michigan country. He was right to get out of there. As the National Park Service will tell you, getting close to a bear is never a good idea. Although bears can be curious creatures, they rarely attack humans unless they feel cornered or in danger. A bear like this stuck inside a tree is a recipe for this situation to deteriorate quickly.
Luckily it ended with no harm to any bears or humans and a compelling learning moment about being careful in the trees you peek into.
