My Morning Jacket celebrates new album in Birmingham [Photos/Full Video]
My morning jacket traveled south to celebrate the release of the group’s self-titled new album with a performance at Alabama Theater in Birmingham on Friday.
Released last Friday, My morning jacket marked the group’s first collection of new studio equipment since 2016 it’s still moving. Last year the band came out The waterfall II, with songs recorded during the sessions that gave birth to 2015 The waterfall.
Along with the new album, MMJ embarked on their first headlining tour in five years. Coupled together, the new album and accompanying tour represent a rebirth for 23-year-old Louisville psych-rock group KY. This renewal was in full view in Birmingham on Friday as the group paired beloved classics like “Touch Me I’m Going To Scream” parts one and two and “Dance Floors” with new material, including live debuts from My morning jacket‘s “Complex”.
