New video shows Van-Lifer Gabby Petito saying police fiance Brian Laundrie hit her

Gabby Petito told police that her fiance, Brian Laundrie, had hit her weeks before she disappeared, according to recently released body camera footage. The 22-year-old “van life” blogger spoke to police on August 12 after witnesses called 911 on the couple as they argued. In previously released bodycam footage, she only said she hit Laundrie and was blamed for the fight. “Did he hit you, though?” An officer asks in the new footage. She replies, “I guess so. But I hit him first… He liked to grab me with his fingernail, and I guess that’s what it looks like, I definitely have a cut here. I can feel it, when I touch it it burns. Laundrie later told an officer, “I pushed her away. She gets really pissed off, and when she does, she is rocking and she had her cell phone in her hand. So I was just trying to push her away. Petito’s new recording corroborates what witnesses who called 911 told police. Petito’s body was found in the Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming earlier this month, and Laundrie has been named as a Person of Interest in his homicide and has been charged with unlawful access to a device, although he’s been missing since he was last seen in Florida. The couple initially embarked on a hike across the country in Petito’s van, but only Laundrie returned. He did not speak to the authorities about what happened to his fiancée.
