Newcastle’s Jim Carrey and Geraldine Viswanathan to star in Super Bowl ad | Newcastle Herald

news, local news,

Whitebridge actress Geraldine Viswanathan will star in a Super Bowl commercial with Jim Carrey. In the commercial, Carrey reprises his role in the 1996 dark comedy The Cable Guy. The big game, between the Los Angeles Rams and the Cincinnati Bengals, begins at 10:30 a.m. Monday. Geraldine’s appearance in the Verizon ad was made public in a teaser video. Playing the role of eccentric cable technician Chip Douglas, Carrey knocks on a door in the teaser and Geraldine’s character looks through the peephole. “The cable guy,” Carrey said, in his unmistakable comedic voice. Geraldine, 26, has starred in films such as Blockers and The Broken Hearts Gallery. Newcastle Herald reporter Lisa Rockman is planning a feature story on Geraldine for Saturday’s Weekender section. Geraldine’s mother, Anja Viswanathan-Raith, said “she was here for the Christmas holidays”. “We were actually in the Blue Mountains on a family vacation for five nights before she flew back to Los Angeles,” Anja said. “It was mid-January. She was planning to return to LA a week later, where she currently lives. “We were only in the Blue Mountains for one night when her team wanted to contact her, but she didn’t didn’t. I don’t know why.” After taking the call, Geraldine looked “happy but stressed”. Anja asked, “Is this good or bad news?” “She said it was really exciting but really stressful. They wanted her for a commercial with Jim Carrey. They wanted a funny woman and they said they wanted Geraldine. “They thought Geraldine could hold their own against Carrey. The two are the only two people in the ad,” Anja said on Wednesday/Thursday of this week, so we had to make a decision within the hour to wrap our Airbnb and return to Newcastle,” Anja said. “They arranged for her to be picked up the next day at 5 a.m. She just had time to pack. “She was picked up by two escorts and taken to the airport. She took a COVID test and she was on the plane at 1pm.” Anja said it was a “massive and unexpected opportunity” for her daughter. Geraldine had been in Australia since late November, so she only missed “part of her vacation. Lisa reported for the Herald in 2020 that Geraldine had just received the keys to a new apartment in Brooklyn when New York went into COVID lockdown. “She ended up spending consecutive months with Miles Robbins at his mother Susan Sarandon’s country home in upstate New York. Robbins, whose father Tim Robbins is also an Oscar winner, and Viswanathan met while filming Blockers.” Geraldine has worked with Hollywood heavyweights like Hugh Jackman, Daniel Radcliffe and Steve Buscemi. He’s a star rising, no doubt. And now, a memory of The Cable Guy: The Cable Guy [Jim Carrey]”Women are a maze, my friend. Can I be blunt? I don’t think you’re listening to her. I think you’re telling her what she wants to hear. She wants you to be thirsty to know who she is. is, all the complicated splendor that is woman. When your love truly gives, it comes back to you tenfold. Steve Kovacs [Matthew Broderick]: “You’re right. It’s incredibly insightful.” The Cable Guy: “I know. That was Jerry Springer’s last thought on Friday’s show.”
