News Release 247 – Homicide Investigation – Finley Boulevard

Homicide investigation

The Birmingham Police Department is investigating a homicide. The incident happened on Friday, December 2, 2022.

The victim was identified as:

Cornelius Arthour May Jr., (20), B/M, of Birmingham, Alabama.

Around 8 p.m. North Ward officers were dispatched to the Chevron located at 1525 Finley Boulevard after reports of several people shooting at each other. The call has been updated for several people shot dead.

Officers arrived at the scene and observed a vehicle in front of the Chevron that had collided with a tree. Upon further investigation, officers observed an adult female victim inside the vehicle apparently suffering from a gunshot wound.

Officers also observed the victim inside the vehicle apparently suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers located a third gunshot victim (an adult male) walking near the area.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue (BFR) arrived at the scene and pronounced the victim dead. BFR transported the other two gunshot wound victims to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary investigation suggests there was some sort of shooting in the 1600 block of Finley Boulevard. At that time, we believe the victims were aiming.

Currently, we have no one in custody.
