Peter Pan flies to town for a panto at the York Theater Royal

Peter Pan has been to town for this year’s pantomime in York Theater Royal.

CBeebies favorite Maddie Moate and three Cinderella stars from last year appear in the family swashbuckling pantomime All New Adventures of Peter Pan through January 2.

This is the second co-production between York Theater Royal and Evolution Productions. The 2021 premiere, Cinderella, was nominated for Best Pantomime (500-900 seats) at the British Pantomime Awards while Paul Hawkyard and Robin Simpson, who played the Ugly Sisters, were nominated for Best Uglys at the same awards.

The pair return for this year’s pantomime – Paul as the villainous Captain Hook and Robin as Mrs. Smee.

Also returning is Cinderella Faye Campbell from last year. She made her York pantomime debut in The Traveling Pantomime which toured 18 community venues across the city.

Maddie Moate, who plays the naughty Tinker Bell, presents the popular CBeebies series Do You Know? as well as his own science and technology YouTube channel. She also directs and presents films for educational YouTube channels.

Jason Battersby, who plays Peter Pan, appeared in Crazy For You at the Chichester Festival Theater over the summer and played Lead Shadow in Wendy and Peter at Leeds Playhouse last Christmas.

Jonny Weldon, who plays the pirate Starkey, was in the musical version of 101 Dalmatians at the Regents Park Open Air Theater in London this summer. Her childhood stage appearances include Mary Poppins and Les Miserables. He went viral on social media with millions of views for his the comedy sketch.

Francesca Benton-Stace plays Wendy and Mermaid and in the Ensemble are Emily Taylor, Amy Hammond, Lauren Richardson, Luke Lucas, Khan Rasul and Thomas Yeomans. Acrobats Mohammed Iddi, Karina Ngade and Mbaraka Omari complete the cast.
