A hobbit-themed hideaway near Osoyoos has become one of Airbnb’s most popular unique stays in Canada.

Second Breakfast Hideaway, formerly known as Hobbit Mountain Hole, managed to Airbnb’s most popular unique destinations in Canada recently published list.

The earth and hobbit inspired fantasy escape is located 25-30 minutes east of Osoyoos.

The Hobbit House offers seclusion and privacy on a mountain surrounded by nature.

“Fantastic space for Tolkien fans and nature lovers! Incredible scenery for a cozy weekend!” one guest said in their comments.

But if you had hoped to spend a weekend there this year, you will have to look to 2023. The Second hidden breakfast is almost complete for 2022.

According to Airbnb, travelers seek out and book unique stays.

“As peak tourist season kicks off, travelers are enjoying unique Canadian properties like tiny homes, treehouses, mud houses, barns and boathouses like never before,” Airbnb said of their best unique stays in Canada in 2021. “New data from Airbnb shows that nights booked in unique accommodations in Canada increased by nearly 70% last year compared to 2019.

Treehouses make up 10 of the 40 most searched unique stays in Canada in 2021. Only three Airbnb listings from British Columbia made it into the top 40 unique destinations.

In 2020, Christine Le Comte purchased a ranch just east of Osoyoos in Bridesville. The Earl dubbed the tiny guesthouse the Hobbit Mountain Hole Bed and Breakfast and put it on Airbnb.

Then, Warner Bros. issued a trademark infringement warning regarding the use of the word “hobbit”. She led a social media campaign to rename her Airbnb and Second Breakfast Hideaway won.
