Pophouse Adds Catherine Powell and Alexandra Lutz to Board of Directors – Billboard

Pophouse, the Swedish entertainment company co-founded by ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus behind a myriad of endeavors in music, technology and hospitality, has rounded out its board with executives from Airbnb and EQT.

Full board now includes Catherine Powell, Global Head of Accommodations at Airbnb. Prior to Airbnb, Powell spent years at The Walt Disney Company, most recently as President of Disney Parks, Western Region, where she oversaw Disneyland, Walt Disney World and Disneyland Paris.

Pophouse’s board is also welcoming Alexandra Lutz, partner of Stockholm-based investment organization EQT. Powell and Lutz join current Pophouse board members, including Pophouse chairman and former Manchester United executive Michael Bolingbrokeco-owner of Pophouse Conni Jonsson, Pophouse co-owner and ABBA member Bjorn UlvaeusCEO of UMG Frank Briegmannformer CFO of the Nordic financial services group SEB Per Arne Blomquist and CEO of Pophouse By Sundin.

“Alexandra brings world-class digital growth experience that will help our brands grow their businesses,” Ulvaeus said in a statement. “Catherine will bring us deep knowledge of entertainment and customer experience that will be invaluable in creating even better experiences within our group.”

Pophouse is a major investor in London’s ABBA Stadium, located in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, where ABBA will perform daily as digital “abbatars” on a giant LED screen with a 10-piece live band. The show, ABBA Voyage, is set to open May 27, 2022.

Pophouse also recently opened Stockholm’s Space, a digital culture center billed as the world’s largest gaming center that will also house the Avicii tribute museum, The Avicii Experience, which is scheduled to open February 26, 2022. (Pophouse CEO Entertainment, Sundin is closely tied to Avicii’s legacy, having signed the artist’s hit “Levels” to Universal Music in 2011.)

Pophouse Entertainment is also behind the ABBA The Museum in Stockholm and other cultural facilities and hotels in the city. The company is currently moving towards investing in intellectual property, particularly music rights, through several strategic acquisitions and development projects.
