The father of four has also spent more than £ 7million on a large plot in Quinta da Marinha on the so-called Portuguese Riviera, according to Portuguese media.

Work has just started on the mansion, according to respected Portuguese daily Correio da Manha, will be the latest addition to the football star’s real estate empire.

He says the 36-year-old plans to use the house as an investment, although popular magazine TV 7 Dias has claimed he plans to use it as a family home after he retires.

A source described as a future neighbor told the magazine: “The land was recently fenced and it was bought by Ronaldo.

“This is where he will come to live with his family when he finishes his career.

“Everyone here knows that and of course we are happy. Ronaldo is Ronaldo.

The rich coastal region, centered on Cascais, Estoril and Sintra, is known as the Portuguese Riviera.

Cristiano’s real estate empire also includes a seven-story building overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Madeira’s capital, Funchal, which he bought in 2019.

His mother Dolores, 66, and his older brother Hugo and his family live on the property.

The former Manchester United and Real Madrid forward spent time there with his girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and four children after flying to his home island last year following the stroke of his mother.

He then moved to a villa rented for £ 3,500 a week before returning to Italy, where he owns a luxurious villa.

Portuguese media have identified Cristiano as the mystery buyer of Portugal’s most expensive apartment.

The Euros star has reportedly turned down offers from two other millionaires to take over the 3,100-square-foot apartment in the Avenida da Liberdade neighborhood in central Lisbon.

Cristiano also owns a £ 4.8million mansion in a gated fortress called La Finca near Madrid, where Welshman Gareth Bale also lives.

He showed the house in a video posted in December 2015, giving fans a tour of his bedroom, living room, dining room and garden and wishing people a Merry Christmas.

Before moving into his expensive apartment in Lisbon, he sold a mansion for £ 2million to his former Real Madrid teammate Pepe in Geres, northern Portugal.

He allegedly used the money from this sale to buy his building in Funchal.
