Ryanair strengthens its service to Venice

The decision results in an additional investment of US$100 million in the Italian base in Veneto, which will amount to a total of US$600 million.

From winter 2022/23, the low cost airline will serve 330 flights per week from Venice Marco Polo to 27 destinations. The 20 new routes will include Birmingham, Cologne, Dublin, Lanzarote, Lisbon, Madrid, Marseille and Vienna, improving connectivity from Venice to 11 European countries.

The move is part of the airline’s strategy to consolidate its operations in northern Italy.

“Although other carriers cut capacity by almost 50% before Covid, the SAVE Group acted quickly and decisively to the benefit of the Veneto region, securing Ryanair’s long-term growth. […] This winter, we will be operating over 470% of our pre-Covid capacity in Venice,” commented the carrier’s route development manager, Ray Kelliher.

Moreover, according to recent statements by SAVE Group’s Director of Aviation Sales and Marketing, Camillo Bozzolo, Ryanair’s decision will also create 120 additional jobs in the sector.

“The arrival of Ryanair’s fourth aircraft at Marco Polo will give further impetus to the recovery in traffic begun during the current summer season,” Bozzolo concluded.
