Sam Grafton wins Event #1 of the EPT Prague 2021 €10,200 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em (€80,360)

One of the first Spadie trophies was awarded during rescheduling PokerStars EPT Prague 2022 party at king’s casino in the Czech capital. Nothing else than PokerStars Ambassador Sam Grafton prevailed in Event #1 €10,200 NLHE Bounty High Rollerbeating online poker legend Niklas Astedt in a very short one-on-one duel. The tournament attracted 57 entrants and the cash prize pool of €267,900 was awarded to the top eight finishers.

Grafton was his usual jovial self and the center of conversation at the table in an atmosphere filled with banter and jokes. The Briton claimed a cash prize worth €80,360 and also racked up several bonuses of €5,000 each along the way. At the final table, Grafton knocked out four opponents and was responsible for the final three eliminations to claim victory in style.

Event #1 €10,200 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller Hold’em Recap

The last player to go empty handed was another High Roller regular well known to the live and online poker scene. Andras Nemeth failed in a flip against South Korea Daewoong Song miss out on a cash prize. For Song, the tournament ended in a respectable third place after dominating the action throughout the day. Fellow South Korean player Gab Yong Kim was also in the game and finished in sixth place, surrounded by familiar faces from the high-stakes circuit.

Day 2 started again with 25 players still in contention and Pavel Binar was the only one to take advantage of late registration before departure. However, the Czech couldn’t turn his second start into a payday and left with no money or bonus. Many other notables suffered the same fate, including Patrick Leonard, Stephen Chidwick, Adrian Mateos, Timothy Adamsand Thomas Mühloecker.

Also among the suitors were two well-known Brazilian online shredders in Pedro Garagnani and Rodrigo Seji but none of them reached the silver stage. It was the same for Yuri Dzivielevsky thus, who sent his €5,000 bounty chip to eventual champion Grafton.

While the action unfolded at a blistering pace for most of the day, the currency bubble was a tense affair. Nemeth failed in numerous attempts to score bounty prizes in the tournament, but survived multiple times while being the at-risk player. Eventually his luck turned in a big turnaround.

Over an hour passed with no elimination in the money before the floodgates opened. In just over an hour, the field went from eight to one winner as Grafton launched into a blistering streak to seal the victory. The Briton conceded in fourth place Teun Mulder in the table chat this was just the first High Roller battle and many more will follow in one of the most popular live poker stoppages on European soil.
