Search for Fiat 500 driver after accident with skateboarder

A 16-year-old skateboarder has been hospitalized after a hit-and-run accident.

Police are looking for a Fiat 500 driver in white or cream in connection with the Christchurch incident.

The driver is described as a woman with long blond hair. She would have failed to stop at the scene of the accident.

The boy was crossing the road on his skateboard at the roundabout which connects Somerford, Purewell, Stanpit and Purewell Cross Road on Wednesday August 17 at around 7.45pm.

As he crossed the Stanpit arm of the roundabout, it is reported that a vehicle collided with him, sending his skateboard under the car and the skateboarder on the bonnet of the car.

According to the police, the driver of the vehicle then left the scene in the direction of the Two Riversmeet leisure centre.

The skater suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.

Officers are asking witnesses to the incident or anyone with dash cam footage to come forward.

Bournemouth Police PC Greg Johnson said: ‘The driver involved in this collision did not stop at the scene and left a pedestrian in need of hospital treatment.

“So far, investigations have limited potential vehicles, but I’m still trying to locate the driver of the vehicle involved.

“I understand that this incident happened a few months ago, however, I urge anyone who witnessed what happened to contact us.

“I would also love to hear from anyone who might have captured anything relevant on dashcam footage.

“It may also include people who were told about the incident by the driver or who noticed a vehicle matching the description that could potentially have damage.”
