TO UPDATE: The coroner’s office identified the victim as Alan Jermaine Turman, 42. They made an arrest in the case.
INDIANAPOLIS — A person was fatally shot outside a church on the northeast side of Indy, police say.
The Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department said officers were called to the Oasis of Hope Baptist Church, located at 1701 E. 25th Street, around 12:30 p.m. Saturday.
Officers reported finding a person with a gunshot wound at the scene. The victim was declared dead.
Online listings show a funeral was taking place at the Oasis of Hope Baptist Church before the shooting.
According to IMPD, the shooting was the result of a domestic incident and a person of interest is speaking to officers. Police said there was no danger to the public.
Police have not released any additional information at this time as the investigation is still active.
