Six hardest-to-pronounce street names for newcomers to Boise
Moving from Las Vegas nearly three years ago to Treasure Valley, I was surprised at how welcoming everyone was. Maybe because I didn’t leave California, people were more accepting. Maybe it’s because I changed my license plates immediately because I was very proud to be a new Idahoan and tried very hard to fit in. By the end of the first day, I figured out Boise was pronounced Boy-C, not Boy-Z.
One of the reasons people knew I wasn’t from Idaho was because I had trouble pronouncing certain street names. Boise has street names that confuse people because the origin of many words is so diverse.
For anyone new to Treasure Valley, I’ve put together a guide to the hardest-to-pronounce street names so you don’t have to embarrass yourself the same way you did when I moved here.
