SkyLand Ranch is opening soon in East Tennessee

The first time I went to Gatlinburg was in 1982 and there wasn’t much to do EXCEPT Gatlinburg. My sister and I checked out Ripley’s Believe It or Not and jumped into a crystal clear Smoky Mountain stream fully dressed. But other than that, well…

WHAT IS NOT WHAT TO DO IN THE GREAT SMOKY MOUNTAINS?

Fast forward 40 years, and you may not have ENOUGH time to do everything that intrigues you while visiting East Tennessee. It’s not exactly breaking news that the Smokies aren’t JUST Gatlinburg anymore. Pigeon Forge and Sevierville are equally popular destinations in 2022.

So there’s always room to grow, always room for more to do – although arm twisting is rarely necessary to get people to travel to this part of the country.

Soon, Sevierville will add another must-see attraction to a long and growing list of places tourists will want to swarm. And what a perfect time of year for something new in the Great Smoky Mountains. Seriously, if you don’t know how to spend a week there, you don’t try.

SKYLAND RANCH OPENS SOON IN SEVIERVILLE, TENNESSEE

When SkyLand Ranch opens, I expect it to be packed on day one.

The chairlift that will carry visitors to the park really takes me back. I don’t know how many attractions across the country use such devices – and a few come to mind – but when I was a kid it seemed like they ALL did.

Originally slated to end in the spring of 2022, SkyLand Ranch’s opening day has been pushed back to this fall. But you can check out a detailed progress report here:

As you have heard, customers who do not want to use the chairlift can take one of the three shuttles to the mountain. But these chairlifts are not ordinary chairlifts. According SkyLand Ranch website, they are HYBRIDS, which means that tourists will have the choice of chairs or open-air cabins. Very cool idea.

SkyLand Ranch will also be home to a variety of miniature animals, including miniature cows and donkeys! After visiting the animals, customers will love browsing the food barns and retail barns. It’s a park for all seasons, it seems, and I have no doubt that all seasons will see heavy traffic at one of the newer destinations in the Smoky Mountains.
