New York-based architecture and design studio ODA take in the sun Floridaunveiling the design of its latest Residential project in Fort Lauderdale. Luxury tower will rise forty-seven stories above the city’s Rio Vista neighborhood south of the New River, introducing 830 apartments ranging from studios to two bedrooms.
Developed by Dependable Equities, the large mixed-use building will take shape at 633 SE 3rd Avenue with an elevated, sophisticated design to stand out from the urban fabric. A large corner plaza with enabled walkways as well as retail space on the ground floor will further energize the public realm at street level.

a tower of wraparound balconies and rooftop terraces
the design team at ODA shapes its Fort Lauderdale tower as a group of tubular volumes. These rounded stepped forms are carefully composed to elegantly tone down the massing of the tower as it rises. With a curved and refined glass facade and an alternation of enveloping balconies, the architecture generates a dynamic game that breaks down the building’s volumetry. The project will provide its residents with expansive, multi-level rooftop arrangements – created by sculpted double-height setbacks and voids – all opening outwards with unobstructed city views.

ODA’s 633 SE 3rd Avenue project will bring both rental housing and 13,000 square feet of commercial space to Fort Lauderdale. The tower will be elevated atop a podium, itself enveloped by residential units that continue the rounded expression. Here, a dynamic three-dimensional “parking screen” facade echoes the design of the cylindrical tower. At night, the concave recesses of the parking lot facade will appear as a luminous, textured wall, adding to the atmosphere of the neighborhood.
