Britain has a bewildering array of options for spending a few nights amid timeless royal splendor, but help narrowing down the search is at hand thanks to Airbnb, which has unveiled its 10 most sought-after UK castles .
The list includes a gem in Cornwall in the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, towers in Teignmouth lovingly restored over the past 11 years and a stack in Scotland that left one visitor in awe.

No. 5 – Blackcraig CastleBallintuim, Perth and Kinross, Scotland
There are two double bedrooms available to rent in this ‘romantic’ 19th century baronial stack in Perthshire, from £145 a night. Reviewer ‘Sarah’ describes the castle as ‘lovely’ and ‘unique’
Number 4 – TowerThornton Castle, Aberdeenshire
This chateau dates from the 13th century, with two rooms in the 16th century tower wing available for bed and breakfast rental. The family uses a separate wing of the house and the property has its own breakfast egg supply chain thanks to the resident hens and ducks in the garden. From £155 a night

This is the most sought after castle in the UK. What do the guests think? They are usually upset. The 12th-century property scores an average of 4.98 out of five from 64 reviews, with “Linda” summarizing the castle as “absolutely stunning” and the scenery in which it sits as “so beautiful”. “You will be impressed by the castle as soon as you arrive – the best Airbnb we have stayed in,” she adds. Host Etsuko said, “As an Airbnb host, it’s fantastic to see guests enjoying the castle. It’s such a unique historic building, and it’s wonderful that today it’s still filled with the laughter of families and friends.
