The Benidorm hotel made famous in the TV comedy where you can stay for £200 a week

It’s probably the most-watched hotel pool on TV where the antics of the staff and guests of Benidorm’s Hotel Solana have entertained fans for a decade.

Although ITV’s comedy show may be over, anyone who misses the exploits of their favorite characters can now take their turn on one of the famous sunbeds or paddle to the pool bar for an all-inclusive drink.

For many who watched the TV comedy program, staying at the sister hotels Sol Pelicanos and Ocas will be rich in novelty value. The attractive pool was transformed into the fictional Solana for several weeks a year while scenes from the comedy were filmed.

However, for many years it was a favorite with British holidaymakers keen to get their Benidorm fix – and now companies like love vacation offer holiday packages with flights and accommodation for around £200 per person.

Those hoping to check in at the reception hosted by Joyce Temple-Savage (played by Sherrie Hewson) in the TV series or book an appointment at the Blow and Go salon hosted by stylist Kenneth du Beke (Tony Maudsley) will be disappointed.

Interior scenes were created away from the hotel with the reception and adjoining rooms used as production offices during the filming of Benidorm.

The resort, which is minutes from the beach, is effectively two hotels in one, with double the perks — restaurants, snacks, and pool bars all go in pairs.

All comfortable and modern rooms are equipped with a private bathroom, hairdryer, mini fridge, LCD TV, safe (extra charge) and free Wi-Fi – far more impressive than the cramped apartments featured in the series.

The main lagoon pool is impressive, with the famous swim-up bar open in July and August, and three hot tubs. Sun loungers and parasols around the sun terrace. And for children, there are swimming pools in each hotel, as well as a mini-club, a playground and a mini-disco.

A buffet restaurant serves a wide range of Mediterranean and international dishes, and it wouldn’t be Benidorm if it didn’t have a good selection of bars.

The resort itself has over 800 establishments for a beer or cocktail – and there’s a good selection without leaving the resort.

These include the Orcas Pool Bar, Caribbean Bar, In & Out Bar, and Lobby Bar. There is also the Wood Bar open in July and August. Directly opposite is Morgan’s Bar – which doubled for Neptunes in the fun show.

For anyone still in need of a reminder of the show, which ended in 2018, Mateo’s Bar is a short walk away. It’s owned by Benidorm creator Derren Litten, and the walls are lined with memorabilia from the show.

There’s even a chance that Romeo’s server, Mateo (Jake Canuso), will come by for a drink.
