The ‘Hocus Pocus’ home in Salem, MA might be Airbnb’s spookiest home
SALEM, Mass. — Don’t spin your panties, it’s just a haunted Airbnb.
The Sanderson Sisters of “Hocus Pocus” fame invite guests to stay at their spooky cottage in the backwoods of Salem, Massachusetts this Halloween season.
The witch trio’s house has been recreated to celebrate “Hocus Pocus 2”, which will be broadcast on Disney+ from September 30.
Those brave enough to spend the night in the cottage might want to sleep with one eye open. “Wood planks that groan under the weight of curious cats and cupboards filled with owl blood and red grass (and even a hair from Winifred’s head) await those who dare to explore the dark corners of the cottage,” said Airbnb said in a statement.
Guests can even try casting enchantments from the sisters’ spellbook, though Kathy Najimy, who plays Mary Sanderson in the film, doesn’t recommend it.
“Don’t open that book — there’s a book on witchcraft, but I wouldn’t open it if I were them,” she told CNN.
Najimy said she and co-stars Bette Midler (Winifred Sanderson) and Sarah Jessica Parker (Sarah Sanderson) think fans of the iconic film will enjoy the experience.
“It’s going to be unique and scary like me,” Najimy said. “The whole chalet will have all the Sanderson touches. But they will have the things people need to have a good time, sheets and towels and beds and brooms and dead man’s toes and spooky things like that too. Really wild living leisure.”
As for Najimy’s favorite room in the cottage? Mary’s loft, of course. “I would be lying if I didn’t say it’s my favorite piece,” she said. “It will have Mary’s broom. It has a creepy charm, creepy little things, and is much better than the other two witch kingdoms. My loft is going to be cool.”
The chalet will welcome two guests for an exclusive stay on October 20 for only $31. The listing will be offered on Airbnb beginning October 12 at 1 p.m. ET.
