A PLACE described as having “real food, real people and a real atmosphere” – The Inn In the Park is the pub of the week.
Located in Poole, The Inn in the Park is a Victorian style pub offering excellent food, a warm welcome and jazzy musical evenings.
Although owned by Wadworth, the pub and its five rental rooms are largely in the hands of Maggie Dale and her partner Darren.
Maggie said: “Although her brewery is owned, it is independently run. It’s just me, my husband and a great team of employees.
“We’re just a small, independent company fighting against the big guys.”
The Inn in the Park has received rave reviews as guests keep coming back for its friendly staff and local dishes.
Maggie said: “We have great reviews. They say how friendly the staff is. We all work hard to deliver what we believe to be a great experience.
“I have a team of great chefs. They produce fresh food that we source locally.
But despite the good feedback, it hasn’t been the easiest journey for the couple since taking over the premises in September 2020.
Maggie said: ‘We took it back in September and had a lockdown in November. We reopened in December, then had another lockdown in January, February, March and April. So, it’s been a roller coaster.
The Inn in the Park promotions table changes regularly.
Maggie and Darren made it through, and the Inn in the Park is now busier than ever, with guests entertained with regular jazz and quiz nights.

Maggie said: “We have a lot of regulars but also a lot of tourism. There are a lot of vacation homes around here, people with second homes and Airbnbs, so we get a lot out of that.
‘We have a jazz night on Mondays which is extremely busy – there is a different jazz band every week.
“It’s something I did before in another pub and it followed me here because I have a background in jazz and singing. I worked on cruise ships.
“It’s a very good evening but it is crucial to reserve a table.
“I also do quizzes. It’s absolutely crowded here on a quiz night.
