Kevin Hart stars as a clumsy sales consultant who checks into the wrong vacation rental cabin in Netflix’s comedy of errors “The Man From Toronto.” When Hart enters a torture chamber, he must quickly pretend to be Toronto’s eponymous assassin to save his own life. Still, the CIA wants him to stay undercover to help them find the real Man from Toronto, who is none other than Woody Harrelson.
The buddy comedy continues as Harrelson trains Hart to be him, and Hart must decide whether or not to report the Toronto man to federal authorities. ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’ director Patrick Hughes is directing the Netflix film, which premieres June 24.
Kaley Cuoco, Jasmine Mathews, Lela Loren, Pierson Fodé, Jencarlos Canela and Ellen Barkin also star in the action comedy. Robbie Fox and Chris Bremner wrote the screenplay, with Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch producing.
Director Hughes explained that Hart and Harrelson’s comedic chemistry is central to the parody action movie. “I’m a big fan of buddy comedies, and I love that in the end, it’s still like a love story between two people with polar opposites,” Hughes said. Weekly entertainment. “Kevin Hart’s character is like a wet noodle who needs to find the strength to stand up in the world because it’s stepping all over him. On the other hand, ‘the man from Toronto’ is someone one who needs to get in touch with their emotions a bit more instead of just killing everyone. Watching them learn from each other is really fun.
“The Man from Toronto” also marks Harrelson’s first premiere since starring in 2022 Palme d’or-winning “Triangle of Sadness,” Ruben Östlund’s latest dark comedy. Harrelson is also set to team up with Östlund again for the upcoming “Entertainment System Is Down” film, as Östlund confirmed exclusively to IndieWire. Harrelson will star in the Richard Nixon biographical miniseries “The White House Plumbers” and the prison breakout show “The Most Dangerous Man in America,” both currently in production.
“The Man from Toronto” premieres June 24 on Netflix.
