Unsurprisingly, holidays to Portugal are booking up fast since it was announced on May 7 that the country was on the UK travel green list.
The tourist hotspot has become a favorite with Britons, with travel agencies experiencing huge spikes in demand.

Despite fears Britons could be stopped at the border due to EU restrictions, Portugal has confirmed it will welcome Britons from May 17 with a negative Covid test.
Britons traveling to ‘green’ list countries will be able to return to England without quarantine restrictions, but will require a pre-flight Covid test as well as a PCR test on the second day of their return to the UK.
Opodo is a travel agency that has seen a marked increase in bookings in Portugal. Pablo Caspers, the company’s director of travel, said: “The majority of travelers are looking for a trip to Portugal, which has accounted for the vast majority of all bookings in green list countries since the announcement.”
“British holidaymakers point to either the Algarve, which accounts for 44% of bookings in the country since the announcement, or Lisbon, which accounts for 39% of bookings.”
Travel agency VRBO also reported a huge 535% increase in interest in the Faro district between May 7 and May 8, with Lisbon, Madeira and Porto also showing an increase in searches.
