The official Scooby-Doo Mystery Machine is now on Airbnb

The amateur investigative antics of Scooby-Doo and the gang are staple entertainment for all generations. It doesn’t matter if you grew up with the animated series in the 1980s when Casey Kasem voiced the character Shaggy, or if your first exposure was the live-action films starring Matthew Lillard as the loose cohort of the Canine crime buster Scooby-Doo carved out his own contemporary pop culture.

Tributes to age-old revelations like removing a Halloween mask and exclaiming, “It’s Old Man Peabody, from the playroom!” have found their way into movies like Wayne’s World and even TV shows like Star Trek: Discovery.

It’s been 20 years now since Matthew Lillard played this iconic role, and to celebrate the anniversary, he’s offering Airbnb users the chance to stay in the gang’s favorite vehicle, the Mystery Machine. Yes indeed, years before the A-Team made transit vans cool, Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy and Scooby rode around in a cool 70s-style blue-green van with orange letters, fighting against petty crime. budding rings and crooks across the country.

“To celebrate, I’m bringing it back to 2002 with a totally groovy stay in the gang’s beloved Mystery Machine, monsters not included,” Lillard wrote in the Airbnb posting.

Reservations open at 1 p.m. ET on Thursday, June 16 for just three stays on June 24, 25 and 26. The competition is therefore likely to be fierce. Lillard stresses, however, that guests are responsible for their own travel to and from Southern California, where he lives and where the Mystery Machine is based.

For just $20 a night, guests will be immersed in Year 2000 nostalgia and will be greeted with a virtual greeting from Lillard himself. While there might not be a whole lot of room in the Mystery Machine, everything has a deliberate retro feel to it, including a CD player, mini TV and DVD player, lava lamp, some very cool Scooby Snacks. important as well as souvenirs, outdoor seating and a hammock space.
