The old Joe’s Crab Shack building damaged by fire

No injuries were reported, but it took firefighters approximately 50 minutes to fully bring the blaze under control.

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The building that once housed Joe’s Crab Shack in Vancouver was damaged by fire Monday morning. No injuries were reported.

Fire crews were dispatched around 5:40 a.m. Monday and arrived about five minutes later to find the fire both outside the building and spreading inside, according to a news release from the fire department. Vancouver fire.

Crews stretched several hoses to fight the blaze and closed Columbia Way to extend a large diameter hose from a fire hydrant across the road. The closure was expected to last until around 8 a.m., firefighters said.

According to the press release, the fire was brought under control after about 10 minutes, but was not fully contained until about 50 minutes after firefighters arrived. The building’s sprinkler system was activated and brought the fire under control.

About 20 firefighters were on the scene, as well as the office of the Vancouver fire marshal, who will investigate the cause of the fire. The department’s fireboat was also sent to help from the river, but was ultimately not needed.

The press release did not mention the extent of the damage to the building, but an included photo showed what appeared to be a heavily burned interior wall and door.
