The ‘Stranger Things’ Creel House is a real Georgian mansion

The whole of stranger things season four has finally hit Netflix, and arguably one of the biggest stars of the sci-fi drama’s latest installment is the Creel House. The spooky new place is actually an actual Victorian-style mansion located in Rome, Georgia.

Built in 1882 at 906 E 2nd Ave SW, the house recently operated as a bed and breakfast called the Claremont House until its final closure in March 2019. It was then purchased as private property for $350,000 in July of that year, according to Zillow. The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom home is currently valued at $872,800 by the real estate market.

At the time when the stranger things The locating team found the house, the owners had just closed the sale a month before and intended to renovate it, according to Mashable. Turns out the crew was able to film there before renovations began, which of course involved turning the house into the abandoned Creel house we know and fear – starring boarded up windows and overgrown landscaping. The house was eventually recreated for further sound stage filming, the outlet reports.

Like the Creel house in the series, the house is not a place to enter by intrusion. You can admire the immaculate structure from afar on a walk, but don’t go running up the hill and bother the owners. Fortunately, there are plenty of others stranger things filming locations that you can take a closer look at instead.
