The Wanted’s Tom Parker sends ‘excited’ message ahead of Birmingham show

Wanted star Tom Parker revealed his excitement at performing at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena last night (Saturday March 12). The singer, who is battling an incurable brain tumor, told fans he was ready for the show in a behind-the-scenes video with bandmate Max George.

Tom, 33, could be seen relaxing backstage in a large leather chair with a pillow behind his head before the performance in a video on Instagram. “About half an hour until we’re in Birmingham – Tommy?” You could hear Max say on camera.

“Ready for tonight?” he asked his buddy. Tom replied, “Yes, I am”, before encouraging her, “Come in!”

It happened shortly after Max revealed that Tom had to use a wheelchair for the shows. He appeared in multiple venues across the country with bandmates Jay McGuinness, Siva Kaneswaran, Nathan Sykes and Max to perform their hit Glad You Came.

Tom missed the start of the band’s Most Wanted greatest hits tour last week as he traveled to Spain for pioneering treatment. Tom’s wife Kelsey, 32, accompanied him overseas and on Sunday the couple were reunited with their children, Aurelia, two, and Bodhi, one.

Taking to social media to share the moving video, Kelsey commented: “The reality of cancer. Me and @tomparkerofficial as you know went to Spain for treatment. Which means we spent the most of time without our babies. You don’t realize how someone with cancer really affects the whole family.”

Tom was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2020.
