The Winter 2022 Release: Introducing Airbnb Setup, the all-new easy way to Airbnb in your home

BANGKOK, THAILAND – In May, Airbnb introduces Airbnb categories so millions of people can discover homes they didn’t know existed. Today, the company introduces Airbnb Setup to give millions of people easy access to Airbnb in their homes. They’re also offering even more AirCover for hosts and adding six new Airbnb categories.

– Introducing Airbnb Setup – The all-new, super-easy way to Airbnb in your home, with free personalized guidance from a Superhost.
– Even More AirCover for Hosts – Now offers even more comprehensive protection, with guest ID verification, reservation screening and $3 million damage protection, including coverage for cars, boats, works of art and valuables.
– New Airbnb Categories – We’re adding six new house categories, as well as improving the way Airbnb categories are displayed.

New homes on Airbnb are booked almost immediately. Half of listings that were activated and booked in Q3 2022 received their first booking within three days. We have also seen strong growth rates of new hosts, especially in some countries with high inflation rates.

Over the past year, more than 30 million people have visited Airbnb to learn more about accommodations. Today, we make it easy for millions of people to get started. Introducing Airbnb Setup, the all new super easy way to Airbnb in your home. The Airbnb setup includes:
– Personalized Advice from a Superhost – When you start setting up Airbnb, we’ll connect you with a Superhost for free personalized advice, from your first question to your first guest. You can chat with your Superhost via audio, video, or messaging. We’re launching with 1,500 Superhosts in over 80 countries who are dedicated to helping new Hosts get started.
– An experienced traveler for your first booking – For your first booking, you can choose to host an experienced traveler with at least three stays and a good track record on Airbnb.
– Specialized support from Airbnb – As a new host, you get direct access to a team of specially trained community support agents. They can help you with everything from account issues to payment, and are available by phone, text or email in over 42 languages.

Even more AirCover for Hosts

Last November, we introduced AirCover to provide unparalleled top-to-bottom protection for every host on Airbnb. Today we are making major improvements to AirCover for Hosts:

– Guest Identity Verification – We are extending identity verification to all guests who book and travel in the top 35 countries and regions on Airbnb, which represents 90% of all bookings. We will expand customer identity verification globally in spring 2023.
– Reservation Filtering Technology – We are launching our exclusive reservation filtering technology in the US and Canada, which helps reduce the risk of disruptive parties. We will expand our reservation filtering technology worldwide in spring 2023.
– $3 Million Damage Protection – We triple damage protection from $1 million to $3 million – covering both your home and its contents.
– Auto and boat protection – We now provide damage protection for cars, boats and other watercraft that you park or store on your property.
– Protection of works of art and valuables – Your works of art, jewelry and collectibles will now be repaired or replaced at their appraised value.
– Easier to file a claim – You can now file a claim for damage protection in a few simple steps and easily track its progress from submission to payment.

New Airbnb categories

In May, we introduced a new search method designed around Airbnb categories. Today, we’re introducing six new categories:
– Top of the world – Homes at around 10,000 feet above sea level, often with stunning views.
– Adapted – Homes adapted for wheelchair access, with verified step-free access routes in the house, bedroom and bathroom.
– New – Homes added to Airbnb in the last 10 weeks.
– Trending – Highly rated homes that received more listing views compared to the previous week.
– Play – Homes with basketball courts, game rooms, miniature golf, water slides and more.
– Hanoks – Traditional Korean houses built with natural materials.

We are also improving the categories we show you. For example, when you launch the app, you’ll find the Vineyards category if you’ve recently searched for homes in Napa. Additionally, more details will be presented in search results when viewing categories. For example, houses with a great view will indicate the type of view and houses near national parks will indicate the distance to the entrance of the park.
