Running, biking, shooting among recreational activities for residents, visitors

There are times when the question “What activities can we do in this place?” becomes one of the top questions when someone is considering a location to invest property, buy a first or second home, or retire.

This makes sense, obviously, because you wouldn’t want to move to an area where you have absolutely nothing to do.

Of course, apart from that, there is the question of availability, affordability and getting a good return on investment. In this week’s article, I’m going to focus on some of the things you can do recreationally in Pahrump, which is located about 62 miles west of Las Vegas.

If racing or motorsports is your passion, look no further than the Spring Mountain Motor Resort and Country Club, currently owned by John Morris. The place hosts various driving schools, track rentals and is home to a private motorsport country club.

It has the longest running track in North America at 6.1 miles, and there are signs, and may already be underway, of an expansion for an additional track (as well as expanding facilities ) which will increase the total race track to over 9 miles when complete.

This has generated excitement in the community as job postings have resulted from these expansion plans, with some reports stating that “Spring Mountain will be one of the most exciting places to work and build a lasting career.”

Incidentally, right next to the racetrack is Spring Mountain Estates, luxury trackside residential sites where owners will have access to all the amenities Spring Mountain has to offer, which includes the Clubhouse Lounge, a training and other services (for example, a massage therapist). Plus, owning a home at Spring Mountain Estates puts you minutes from the cool, clear waters of Spring Mountain Lake where you can enjoy activities like paddle boarding, kayaking, jetpack flying and more. There are 80 residential lots (domestic and mixed use), 50 of which have been sold. Currently, 17 houses have been built or are under construction.

If cycling is your passion, a new group of cyclists in Pahrump called Pahrump Valley Cyclists invites the community to ride with them, according to the Pahrump Valley Times. This social club brings together cycling enthusiasts for fitness and fun, and welcomes cyclists of all ages and genders.

Pictured above are some of my regular major investors – Dr. Pete Racoma and Wilmer & Gerlie Comahig – who have been approved for a 100-bed seniors’ resort on Homestead Road.

The club’s goal is to connect cyclists and allow them to come together and enjoy group rides in Pahrump and neighboring communities. Group rides can be staggered to accommodate riders of all levels, from beginners to more experienced.

If walking or hiking is what drives you, there are plenty of trails and parks in the area that are worthwhile. Among them are Discovery Park, Ian Deutch Memorial Park, Calvada Eye, Simkins Park and Petrack Park. These areas offer trails, opportunities for birding and nature discovery, as well as beautiful walkways to share with your four-legged family members. Plus, there are friendly residents to chat with or share a moment with while enjoying your walk or hike.

Golf, one of the most popular sports in the country, has a presence in Pahrump with the Mountain Falls Golf Club, co-designed by renowned architecture firms Nicklaus Design Group and Cal Olson Design. It is an 18-hole golf course and country club capable of hosting events of all types, be it weddings, holiday parties, weddings business and more. It has visually striking and breathtaking views and is a must see for visitors to the area.

I had the pleasure of hosting former Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos at Mountain Falls Golf Club many years ago. He was impressed and enjoyed playing golf at the club.

Apart from these, there are many other activities to do in the area. Sports activities include soccer, basketball, baseball and softball leagues. Residents can indulge in tennis, bowling, martial arts (karate, jiu jitsu, muay thai) and even horseback riding.

There are gambling establishments in Pahrump, which include Pahrump Nugget Casino, Terrible’s Lakeside Casino, Saddle West Hotel, Casino & RV Resort, Irene’s Casino and Terrible’s Road House Casino.

When you’ve participated in all the things you want to do in Pahrump, there’s Las Vegas, which is less than an hour’s drive from Pahrump. Concerts, theater shows, gambling, shopping and dining are close at hand in Las Vegas.

Whether you want to consider Pahrump as your place of retirement, your next residence or an investment, many factors contribute to this. Real estate prices continue to boom in Pahrump and it’s one of many places homebuilders are considering, especially with land prices soaring in Las Vegas.

Pahrump’s proximity to Las Vegas and the fact that there is less crime and trouble in the big cities make it an ideal location for those looking to relocate with their family to another area, or a prospect for those who wish to invest in their future.
