We can’t verify it exactly, but there’s no doubt in our minds that a cliffside cabin in the Okanagan is up for Canada’s smallest Airbnb. Seriously, this Airbnb called ‘The Shire’, outside of Penticton, is just a floating box with a bed in it. And of course we want to stay in it just for fun.
‘The Shire’ is set amongst rolling hills, hiking trails and sprawling properties. Of course, the region is also home to some incredible vineyards, which makes your daily picnics even more enjoyable. A few nearby lakes also provide an outlet for those looking to make a splash during their visit.

And naturally, the outdoorsy atmosphere has seeped into this beautifully designed but stripped down cabin/cabin. Literally suspended from the side of a cliff, the building is almost entirely made of recycled materials. Which of course makes the contemporary design and expansive views much cooler, at least in our opinion.
Now, we won’t deny that there are tradeoffs. First, the cabin is completely off the grid, which means you’ll need to pack appropriately and be prepared for a short walk to shower in the morning. But we doubt people booking here care too much about 5 star amenities. Instead, we think they will focus on 5 star views.
Boy, are you going to be treated in this department. Located in the middle of nature, the floor-to-ceiling windows give you a first-rate look at the surroundings. And if you’re lucky, you’ll even see sheep and deer roaming your private clearing.
Basically, we think this spot is the perfect mix between the serenity of camping and the relative ease of staying in a hotel. And while it definitely leans more towards camping, we can’t deny that it would be the perfect place to relax for a few days.
