Thunes announces senior hires to lead key regions and accelerate global expansion

SINGAPORENov. 25, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Thunes, a global cross-border payments company, today announced that it has appointed four new senior executives to lead its business in strategic regions: Asia Pacific, Americas, Middle East and North Africa, and Greater China. These key recruitments are part of Thunes’ global strategy to further expand its global presence, deepen its relationships with local markets and localize its sales, product and network capabilities.

Jenna wyer, Please for the Americas

Based in the United States, Jenna has over a decade of experience as a leader and consultant in the mobile payments and e-commerce industry. Her previous roles include leading business development, partnerships and payments at Recurly, and founding vice president of sales at Braintree, where she has deals with their top merchants including Uber, Airbnb and HotelTonight.

Simon nelson, Please for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA)

Simon has over 20 years of leadership experience in the payments industry and is based at Dubai. Prior to joining Thunes, Simon was most recently the CEO of Mercury, the UAE’s national program. Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Network International’s Payment Processing business and led the growth of that organization. Prior to that, he built his career in various leadership roles at American Express and GE Money.

Biren zandani, Please for Asia Pacific (APAC)

Biren, situated at Singapore, is a recognized payments expert with over 20 years of experience in financial services, in particular B2B, B2P and P2P payments. Prior to joining Thunes, Biren was APAC Manager at Transfast, a Mastercard company, where he was responsible for generating income and establishing strong network partnerships. He was also responsible for business development and network management for SEA and ANZ at Earthport (now Visa Direct). Prior to that he held several senior positions in the banking industry, he was Senior Vice President for APAC at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Executive Director of Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia at JP Morgan.

Daphne Huang, Please for Greater China

Daphne, situated at Beijing, brings more than two decades of experience in sales, business development, banking and fintech. Before joining Thunes, she was the head of China for SWIFT, where she led its strategic and business development initiatives. She was also CEO and Managing Director of Cross-Border Financial Information Services, a joint venture owned by SWIFT, the China National Clearing Center, Cross-border Interbank Payment System Co Ltd, the Payment & Clearing Association of China, and the PBOC Digital Currency Institute.
