Top 5 destinations for Thai travelers right now, according to Airbnb

It’s time to take out your travel bags.

It’s been an extremely difficult year but hey, we made it in the middle of 2020. While some of us have had to cancel and postpone our trips, as the doors start to open, the idea of a future trip lifted our mood. Traveling overseas may not be an option right now and we still have restrictions on local travel, but surely we can get some air in some of the most beautiful local destinations in our own country.

With cleanliness and hygiene a priority in light of COVID-19, Thai travelers are turning more to private stays and private facilities. City dwellers also look for Airbnbs that offer amenities like kitchens, wireless internet, swimming pools, and pet-friendly places. While last year Japan and South Korea were the superstar in international searches, this year travelers are keeping themselves safe while traveling within the country.

As travel planning begins to move, Airbnb has dropped a few clues about planning future trips, analyzed through guest research and wishlists. From private villa sanctuaries to poolside breakfasts, here are the top trends we’ve spotted for local Thai travelers, with a big spotlight on domestic destinations within a 2-3 hour drive of Bangkok and near the coast.
