Ranking the world’s strangest Airbnbs, Confused.com writes, “Airbnb has changed the way we book our vacations, opening homes across the world for us to stay and enjoy.

“More often than not we are looking for a wonderful vacation home. But if you dig a little deeper, you’ll find that some of them are more unique than others.

Gone are the days of dull, boring hotel rooms. Now travelers are drawn to unique and exciting places to stay. From glamping pods to jungle treehouses, igloos to mushroom domes, the options are endless.

Cahercastle, built at the end of the 15ecentury, still retains many of its original features, making it a unique and charming accommodation choice.

Set in the countryside of County Galway, the castle is surrounded by three hectares of garden. On the site there are streams, rivers, trees and animals from the neighboring farm. Thus, it will be a stay that you will never forget.

The castle is just 30 minutes from Galway City, which means it’s easily accessible from Ireland’s culture capital.

Owner Peter Hayes purchased the property in 1996 after it had been left unattended for over 200 years. Undergoing major restoration work, the top two floors of the castle are now available for rent. The property can accommodate up to four people.

The castle has retained much of its medieval Irish charm, including a stone spiral staircase. However, the property has been fitted with modern amenities including underfloor heating and wifi.

The Galway Airbnb made it to the top 20 Weirdest in the World at # 19.

Topping the list is a stunning treehouse in Australia’s Blue Mountains, priced at £ 1,272 per night. A bamboo house in Sharma Springs, Indonesia followed the treehouse in second place. Next, the private Bird Island in Belize came in third.

Other unique properties mentioned on the list include a beautiful Moroccan riad, an airship in Scotland, and a windmill in the Netherlands.
