KYIV (WJW/AP) – A heartwarming video is circulating of a dog who was reunited with its owner after their split during the violence in Bucha.

Volunteers from a battalion fighting with Ukraine found the dog, Nessie, during the recapture of Bucha. Nessie found her owner in the parking lot of a supermarket in kyiv.

“As long as some treat people like animals, we are fighting for the lives of not just humans but all animals,” the battalion said in a statement.

Bucha is a town outside kyiv where graphic evidence of murders and torture has emerged after the withdrawal of Russian forces.

Ukraine recaptured Bucha from Russia last week.

Scenes that have emerged from Bucha, Irpin and other Ukrainian towns liberated by Ukrainian forces have led to war crimes charges and calls for tougher sanctions against Russia.
