Village near Glasgow named one of Airbnb’s most popular Easter destinations

Grab the sunscreen, fill the cooler and fill the trunk of the car – the Easter holidays are fast approaching.

Many Glasgow residents will be looking for a last minute getaway. But with flight cancellations and covid testing still required to get into some of our favorite destinations, looking closer to home for a relaxing break may seem more appealing.

If you’re having trouble finding inspiration, Airbnb has pulled out all the stops to reveal the UK’s trendiest staycation destinations for the spring season.

Beautiful Balloch has been named one of the top 10 trending UK destinations by the accommodation app – and we can see why.

Less than an hour from Glasgow and just off the bonnie, bonnie shores of Loch Lomond, Balloch was one of only two Scottish locations to feature on the much-requested ‘staycation’ wish list – with Dunbar in the East Lothian.

Amanda Cupples, General Manager for Northern Europe at Airbnb, said: “The nation is set to enjoy the first Easter weekend without Covid restrictions in two years, and it’s great to see Britons exploring promising parts of the UK to make the most of it. The list of trending destinations is inspirational for those looking to get away from it all and explore somewhere new over the long weekend.

“Properties in the area that use Airbnb to welcome visitors include a five-star riverside apartment that sleeps four at £180 a night and a six-person cottage with a wood-burning stove and bath hot tub at Luss for the low price of £424.

The full list was based on people seeking domestic travel and checking in between April 8 and April 24.
