Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo made headlines on Thursday after he left the pitch before the end of Manchester United’s game against Tottenham Hotspur and refused to come on as a substitute. After the Portugal international once again became the center of attraction, the viral video of him leaving Old Trafford has been recreated in one of the most hilarious ways. Someone brilliantly replaced Ronaldo with the appearance of former British Prime Minister Liz Truss, who resigned from office on October 20.

After Liz Truss concluded the now shortest term (45 days) as British Prime Minister, several people around the world took the opportunity to create memes about her. An epic meme that was created by an account called @DeInsonias where ‘Truss aka Cristiano Ronaldo’ can be seen leaving the pitch, similar to how the former British Prime Minister left 10 Downing Street after his resignation speech on October 20.

Another hilarious meme was shared by Indian businessman Anand Mahindra. Mahindra shared an image of the entrance to 10 Downing Street with “Perfect for short stays – sponsored by Airbnb” written on it. He captioned his post, “British humor never quits…”

Ronaldo dropped from squad for Chelsea game

Cristiano Ronaldo was punished for his actions by new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag, who dropped him from the squad for the Chelsea game. The Dutch coach said he had a conversation with the Portugal international about it and made it clear that such actions would have consequences.

“I have to set standards and values and control them. I put a warning at the start of the season, and next time there must be consequences. Otherwise, when you live together when you play together – and the football is a team sport – you have to meet certain standards and I have to control it,” explained Ten Hag.

Ronaldo, who many believe is quite above being chastised in this way, especially at Manchester United, posted a lengthy statement on Instagram reiterating his professionalism throughout his career.
