Croatia Airlines responds

When Brussels Airlines unveiled its new brand identity last month, its livery prompted many in the aviation community to notice its striking resemblance to the Croatia Airlines livery.

Croatia Airlines has now responded to its Star Alliance airline’s new livery saying the following, as reported by Former Yu Aviation News:

“Our corporate identity design is recognizable both in Croatia and abroad, and we are proud if it has served as inspiration for other carriers with their own designs.”

Additionally, commenting specifically on the tail livery, Croatia Airlines stated:

“It should be noted that in 2005 the company received the international ReBrandTM award for our livery, judged by some of the world’s most respected design experts. »

It is also a new livery for Croatia Airlines

The Croatia Airlines livery which looks so much like the new Brussels Airlines livery is also relatively new.

Croatia Airlines applied it to its fleet between 2019 and 2020 to visually refresh the existing livery, which had fewer squares on the tail and had the entire underbelly of the aircraft painted blue. The pre-2019 livery is shown below.

The other difference is that the word “Croatia” is now bigger than it was in the old livery.

Brussels Airlines unveiled its new identity in November

In November, Brussels Airlines presented its new logo, new livery and new color scheme to reaffirm its identity as Belgium’s flag carrier.

The lower case “b” on the tail of the aircraft has disappeared and has been replaced by dots. The tail now features different bubble sizes in a deeper red, blue, and gray pattern, with more bubbles across the fuselage.

The airline’s new logo now features nine red dots of varying sizes, and the aim is to represent diversity within the airline.

The livery also puts the ‘brussels’ in a much larger font to emphasize the airline’s Belgian identity. In a statement on the changes at the time, CEO Peter Gerber said:

“We clearly want to mark the beginning of the New Brussels Airlines. For our customers, who deserve the best, but also for our employees, committed to the transformation we are carrying out and to which they contribute every day. That’s why today we present to you the visual translation of our new beginning. With this new brand identity, we are ready to show our customers, employees, partners and all other stakeholders that we are turning a page.
