Where is Firefly Lane filmed?
Firefly Lane is filmed in British Columbia, Canada. Specifically, the Vancouver and Burnaby regions are used.
According Atlas of Wonders (opens in a new tab), the mall featured in the show is actually the CF Pacific Center in downtown Vancouver. A flashback scene of teenage Kate and Tully stealing cigarettes from a local store was actually the Khwaja Convenience Store located at 702 Hastings Street in the Downtown Eastside, also in Vancouver.
Further flashbacks to Tully and Kate’s high school days were filmed at Lord Byng Secondary at 3939 West 16th Avenue Vancouver. Incidentally, it is also the same school used for filming Riverdale.
The café where Tully’s mother works is actually the Ovaltine Café located at 251 E Hastings Street in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. The cafe has been open since 1942 and has often featured on lists of the best cafes in the world. He’s also no stranger to film and TV appearances, having starred in X files, Luciferand i robot.
Benedict Binswanger’s house, which was a new location for season 2, is the Hart House Restaurant (opens in a new tab) near Deer Lake in Burnaby. The restaurant and event venue sits on a three-acre estate and is designed as a Tudor Revival building. It was used occasionally as a film location, between 1979 and 1986, but hasn’t been used for that purpose very often in recent years – apart from being featured in path of the fireflies.
PJ Pelican’s Bistro in Orcas Island that featured in Season 2 Episode 5 is actually the Eagle Harbor Yacht Club (opens in a new tab) at 5750 Eagle Harbor Road, West Vancouver. The club is mainly used to teach sailing and organize local events.
Internal filming took place at CBC Studios Vancouver Broadcast Center (opens in a new tab) at 700 Hamilton Street in downtown Vancouver. With 11,000 square feet of production-ready studio space, the studios feature a staging area, underground sound stages and provide spaces for film and commercial shoots, recording sessions and sound music.

The terrace of Tully’s penthouse apartment at Firefly Lane is the top of one of two towers that make up The Residences on Georgia complex in Vancouver.
Apartments and offices in the towers are available for purchase and rental. The east tower is at 1200 West Georgia and the west tower is at 1288 West Georgia. The towers were built in 1998 and have 35 floors. They are located on the outskirts of the financial district, the West End and Coal Harbour. Rent starts at $2,095 for some units, but can be significantly higher depending on size.
Where does Firefly Lane take place?
Although it was filmed in Canada, Firefly Lane is set in Snohomish and Seattle, Washington.
Kate and Tully meet as eighth graders at Snohomish, when Tully moves in across from Kate. As adults, the duo live in Seattle and, according to pioneer woman (opens in a new tab), several places mentioned in Kristin Hannah’s books, are real. The author said “Since I went to the University of Washington, I remember a lot of places used in the book”
She continued “Anyone interested in a guided tour of Firefly Lane should try: The Last Exit cafe, Kells pub in Pioneer Square which is always a good time, Starbucks in the public market, a ferry ride from Seattle to Bainbridge Island, Goldies Tavern in the U Ward, Greek Row at the University of Washington (I’m sure you can still find a ton of parties going on there on Saturday nights) and the view of Seattle at night from Rockaway Beach .in 1999, but you should be able to visit all the other places.”
When is Firefly Lane set?
path of the fireflies is set in the 1970s, 1980s and 2000s. Flashbacks depict Kate and Tully between 1974 and 1976. There are scenes set in the mid-80s where the pair start working at a news station, with their adult years taking place from 2003 to 2005.
Some scenes in Season 2 depict the couple in the early 90s, where Tully’s career progressed, but Kate became Marah’s full-time mother. In their present day, early 2000s, the women are in their mid-40s – a flashback to 1959 reveals that was the year they were born. The book is based on the author’s experience growing up in the ’70s, and she wanted the TV adaptation to reflect that and not be out of place in today’s timelines.
