Inspiration can come from the most unlikely of places, and for those who want an idyllic holiday destination here in the UK, look no further than… Netflix.
Netflix’s hit series Sex Education – which recently returned for its third season – has plenty going on: a great cast (including recent Emmy winner Gillian Anderson), a series of progressive storylines, and the most dreamlike filming locations.
The house that Jean (Gillian Anderson) and Otis (Asa Butterfield) live in has become the real star of the show – with its dreamy views over a sprawling lot mixed with the property’s cozy yet luxurious chalet vibe.
But where is it? Is it a real house and can you book to stay there?
Where is the home of Sex Education?
The house – known as The cottage – is located in Symonds Yat, a village in the Wye Valley.
A popular tourist destination, the Wye Valley straddles the River Wye in the county of Herefordshire.
The Chalet website writes, “Explore the cinematic Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean. Get out of the garden on walking paths, cycle paths and the riverside for wild swimming, canoeing and fishing. ‘
In addition to the bucolic beauty of the surroundings, Le Chalet has five bedrooms, a veranda, a sheltered patio and a pizza oven.
Other amenities include a game setting and a summer house with a secret cinema and dart board.
Lucky Chalet guests can also take the steps that lead directly to the river, with local canoe rentals available.
How to stay in the house Sex Education
If you’ve been wowed by the scenic surroundings and luxurious amenities, the good news is, you can book The Chalet.
Reservations are available directly on The Chalet’s website and the house is not available through secondary companies like Airbnb and Booking.com.
A minimum of four nights is required per reservation.
Correct at time of publication, the next block of dates available is November 4-8, and a four night stay will cost £ 2,995.
