Who is Katie Boulter? Wimbledon tennis star’s age, ranking and career earnings

Tennis player Katie Boulter will compete in the Wimbledon Championship this year after receiving a wildcard from the All England Club. The invitation came moments before his surprise win over Alison Riske at the Lawn Tennis Association’s Rothesay Classic Birmingham.

A wildcard is an “invitation” granted by the tournament organization that allows a player to participate in an event that they would not normally qualify for due to their current ranking. Boulter is part of the association’s Pro Scholarship Program, which provides the highest level of support for young players.

But the 25-year-old has been plagued with injuries in recent years which have impacted her performances this season, she was forced to miss most of the clay season. However, his recent win and wildcard show signs of his regained fitness.

Who is Katie Boulter?

Boulter is an English tennis player born in Woodhouse Eaves, Leicestershire. Boulter’s mother, Sue, played tennis at county level and represented Great Britain a few times. The love of tennis was passed on to Boulter when she started playing tennis at the age of five.

Born in Leicestershire, she went on to represent Great Britain three years later, aged 8. The young player showed signs of early success when she won the Lemon Bowl in Rome aged 11. A few years later, she became a Junior Orange Bowl finalist. Tennis Championships in Coral Gables, Florida. Past finalists have included Andy Murray and Caroline Wozniacki. She received the Aegon Junior Player Award the same month.

Today she is based in Roehampton and is coached by Jeremy Bates, Nigel Sears and Mark Taylor. Since the start of her career, she has won six singles titles and four doubles titles on the ITF Women’s Tour and in 2019 she reached her highest singles ranking of world number 82.

Outside of tennis, Boulter supports Leicester City Football Club and is currently in a relationship with an Australian tennis player Alex de Minaure.

The 25-year-old is currently ranked 127 in the Women’s Tennis Association and 1481 in the International Tennis Federation. The wildcard means Boulter can compete in this year’s Wimbledon tournament.

Boulter has a net value of around $1million (£815,000) and has worked with various brand mentions like NikeCourt, Airbnb and Wilson Tennis.

According to WTA, his career earnings to date total $942,556 (£767,250). This year alone, she took home a cash prize totaling $65,593 (£53,393). By making it to the first round of Wimbledon, she will also receive an additional bonus £50,000 prize money.
