Why you should visit Curacao
If you want to stay in downtown Willemstad (and you are not accompanied by children), Botanical Kura is the perfect choice. This is a new adults-only boutique hotel located in one of the UNESCO World Heritage buildings. If you go for Legacy and Sea View, Avila Beach Hotel is the oldest resort on the island and close to downtown and private beaches. But for a luxurious feel and resort perks, Zoetry Curacao Resort & Spa is our main recommendation.
First of all, the accommodations are absolutely beautiful and only ten minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from downtown. There are several places to relax outdoors, including a spacious pool adjacent to an open-air restaurant and bar. The lobby bar is manned by cool, friendly mixologists, and it’s delightfully airy, thanks to open doors on either side, so even when you’re relaxing inside, you’ll still feel immersed in nature. The restaurant on site, Bloom, is also a great place to have a meal. (Think Curaçao cuisine with an international twist, much of it Latin.)
Even better, your stay at Zoëtry also gives you full access to Dreams Curacao Resort, Spa & Casino, which is only a short golf cart ride across the street. With the two hotels at your disposal, you can discover the intimate and luxurious accommodations of Zoëtry, as well as the casino and the beach off Piscadera Bay at Dreams.
Wherever you stop in Curacao, expect a one-of-a-kind island getaway that will likely eclipse any Caribbean vacation of your past. In the words of Statia, “Curaçao will always be your truly authentic island, full of beautiful surprises, historically significant and culturally alive.”
