World’s Tallest Man Announces Cover Album, Shares Cover of Hank Williams’ ‘Lost Highway’

The Tallest Man on Earth (aka Swedish musician Kristian Matsson) has announced the release of a covers album, Too late for edelweiss, which will be released this Friday (September 23) via ANTI-. Matsson also announced a spring 2023 European tour and shared a cover of Hank Williams’ 1949 song “Lost Highway,” which will feature on the upcoming album. In a press release, Matsson said: “When I was a teenager, I borrowed a Hank Williams album from the local library, and ‘Lost Highway’ has haunted me ever since. Many voice soundchecks throughout my career have heard Hank’s advice.
He adds, about the new album: “This last year, I spent a lot of time touring but also writing and recording an album of which I am extremely proud and which will eventually see the light of day. But in the small hours between trips and sessions, mostly at my house in Sweden and an AirBnb in North Carolina, I recorded a few covers here and there. Several times as a reset button for my own songwriting, to cleanse the palate of my whirlwind mind while writing songs. A small document of songs that I had in mind during those nights.
In July, Matsson shared a cover of Håkan Hellström’s 2008 song “För sent för Edelweiss”. His last album, I like you. It’s a fever dreamwas released in 2019 via Dead Oceans.
