Wyndham Expands Partnership with Vacasa for Expansion of Rewards Portfolio

United States: Wyndham Awards announced the addition of 15,000 rentals to its portfolio in partnership with Portland-based vacation rental management company Vacasa.

The new addition to Wyndham’s exchange portfolio gives Rewards members access to Vacasa’s entire vacation rental portfolio. This goes hand in hand with Wyndham’s existing portfolio, which now includes more than 50,000 hosting options.

Vacasa offers a variety of vacation rentals available in markets such as North America, Belize, and Costa Rica. The company’s rentals are privately owned and professionally managed homes ranging from studios to mansions with over 30 bedrooms, in a range of destination types.

Eliot Hamlisch, EVP, Loyalty and Revenue Optimization for Wyndham Hotels & Resorts, said, “What’s most exciting about this is the opportunity to engage our members in a differentiated way. We now have hotels, resorts and vacation rentals all over the world, and the Vacasa relationship is truly the cornerstone of this ambitious buyout portfolio that we have. “

The relationship between the two companies has grown stronger since Vacasa acquired Wyndham Vacation Rentals from Wyndham Destinations for $ 162 million in October 2019.

Hamlisch said, “When the hotel company split from Wyndham Destinations in 2018, Wyndham Vacation Rentals North America actually chose Wyndham Destinations, and we maintained a relationship with approximately 6,000 properties that were part of that portfolio. When it was subsequently sold to Vacasa, we immediately began discussions with them on whether to move from the 6,000 properties that were part of this heritage relationship to over 23,000 properties in the Vacasa portfolio. “

Wyndham Rewards officials believe this deal will benefit both its existing properties and its rewards members.

Hamlisch continued, “Anything we can do to engage our members in a new and differentiated way by adding extra value to being a Wyndham Rewards member is at the forefront of what I think about each morning and fall asleep. each morning. By being a member of Wyndham Rewards and earning Wyndham Rewards points, you now have the ability to use the most ambitious and diverse set of properties in the world.

“It is also very useful from the point of view of the franchisees insofar as our members will be all the more inclined to stay and earn with our franchisees in order to be able to buy back our 9,000 hotels around the world, and then also these buyback options. ambitious non-hotel businesses such as well, ”he added.

In January of this year, Wyndham’s timeshare and vacation ownership company, Wyndham Destinations, announced that it had acquired the Travel + Leisure travel publication from Meredith Corporation and assumed its brand identity as that Travel + Leisure Co.

Wyndham Destinations, which emerged from the Wyndham hotel chain in 2018, operates 230 timeshare resorts worldwide. She paid Meredith Company $ 100 million to acquire Travel + Leisure.
